Buying Music Online

In the last few years there has been a change in music-buying that has resulted in more people using the Internet to find, download, and more recently, buy music online. Online music services such as Napster revolutionised the online music market, resulting in hundreds of thousands of people sharing music with each other.

Naturally this free music revolution resulted in some unhappy music companies, who at first fought the trend with legal action. Some forward-looking music companies have realised that the way forward is to take advantage of this movement and put in place new business models to make use of the Internet.

Online Music Download Stores

Some record labels and music companies now sell their music in download form, examples being iTunes, BeSonic and the newly legal Napster.

However the prices charged per track for downloads can vary, and for some people, downloading music online is something they are not prepared to pay for.

CD Sales Strong

Despite the online music download phenomenon, CD sales are still high. Many online music stores report increasing sales. A good reason for this is that online cd sales can offer better prices than high-street alternatives, and so people are more inclined to shop online for music. Having a wide range (including many hard-to-find releases) of everything from CDs to Vinyl, Singles to Albums, shopping online for music is an easy, cost-effective option.
